Photoshop is when you edit a photos contrast, hue, saturation, or brightness. You 
may even add text, or maybe different color effects. You may move an object of the photo, straighten it, or crop.
There are many different ways to use photoshop. As are there different software's.
Adobe Photoshop is, in my opinion, the best desktop software when it comes to photoshop.

There are plenty more, but those are some of the ones I would recomend.
